Ocala Star Banner visits the DDR
The Doggie Dude Ranch enjoyed a visit by Ocala Star Banner journalist Doug Engle on October 17, 2014 and all of our four-legged friends were on their best behavior for his arrival. Showing off their best tricks and putting on a show for the photographer, Ranch Boss Laurie Russell made introductions all around and entertained the reporter for over an hour.
Since 2009, the Doggie Dude Ranch has been a home away from home for many Ocala dogs, as well as those visiting our fair city. A day at the Dude Ranch starts at 7:15 am when dogs begin to arrive on the farm. Guests frequently comment about how their dogs go bonkers as soon as they see the gates of the Dude Ranch and realize where they are.
Many people consider their dogs like children and are hesititant to leave them just anywhere. But ask any DDR client how they feel about leaving them with Laurie Russell and a wave of relief comes over their face. “I would probably cancel a trip if I knew there was no room at the Dude Ranch for Rocket and Rain,” says long time client and friend Tami Johnson, “I just don’t trust anyone else to understand my Border Collies and keep them safe and happy.”
